As a AI Engineer - Whole Body Controls - Optimus at Tesla, you will join an innovative team focused on building scalable, data-driven solutions. Build, fine-tune, and deploy intelligent Generative AI agents, LLM pipelines, and cognitive AI applications to revolutionize user workflows and automation.

Key Responsibilities & Day-to-Day Scope
- ✓ Develop agentic workflows and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines utilizing state-of-the-art LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models).
- ✓ Implement vector database indexing, chunking strategies, and semantic search algorithms (Pinecone, Chroma, Qdrant).
- ✓ Design, test, and optimize prompt engineering strategies, evaluation benchmarks, and safety guardrails.
- ✓ Build high-performance RESTful APIs (FastAPI, Python) to expose AI capabilities to web applications and mobile clients.
- ✓ Evaluate model latency, token economics, and inference cost optimizations across production pipelines.
Official Qualifications & Technical Requirements
- • Degree in Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical software development background.
- • Strong software engineering proficiency in Python and asynchronous API development (FastAPI).
- • Familiarity with modern LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Ollama) and vector embeddings.
- • Understanding of transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and contemporary Generative AI paradigms.
- • Strong dedication to testing, prompt evaluation, and safe AI alignment practices.
Preferred Skills & Technology Stack
- + Experience fine-tuning small language models (LoRA, QLoRA) on domain-specific datasets.
- + Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container deployment (Docker).
- + Active portfolio of deployed AI applications or hackathon projects.
