The Payments organization owns some of Stripe's most critical payment flows and a platform that processes hundreds of billions of dollars in payments a year. Our team is responsible for translating complex partner specifications related to network costs (interchange and scheme fees) into simplified logic for internal and external consumption. This also drives decisions and product recommendations to manage the underlying network costs paid by Stripe and our users. The team partners closely with the engineering, product, finance, and partnership groups to manage and understand Stripe's network costs.
Key Responsibilities & Day-to-Day Scope
- ✓ Write optimized SQL queries against relational and data lake systems to extract key business metrics.
- ✓ Build and maintain interactive dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or Looker for departmental stakeholders.
- ✓ Perform exploratory data analysis and root cause evaluations on metric anomalies using Python (pandas, numpy).
- ✓ Collaborate with product and operations teams to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and automated reporting suites.
- ✓ Present quantitative findings and commercial insights to both technical and executive stakeholders.
Official Qualifications & Technical Requirements
- • Pursuing or completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL (joins, window functions, aggregations) and relational database concepts.
- • Hands-on experience with Python for data manipulation (pandas, numpy) or modern BI visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau).
- • Solid grasp of foundational statistics, data visualization principles, and business metric interpretation.
- • Strong problem-solving curiosity, attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Technology Stack
- + Experience working with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift).
- + Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative code review workflows.
- + Demonstrated portfolio or capstone projects exhibiting practical end-to-end analytics problem solving.
